| Glasgow Highland Games, May 29 - June 1, 2003 . . .Yes, it is true! Clan Turnbull International is the recipient of the Glasgow Highland Games 2003 Best Clan Tent award! Best clan tent is based upon friendliness, clan information, display quality, originality, tidiness and age-inclusiveness. Examining over 80 clan tents, judges look for displays that are informative, educational and attractive. The accent should be on instructional rather than commercial and materials and items of interest to children are especially encouraged. The plaque is made of wood in the shape of the state of Kentucky and is really quiet lovely. (Photo on News Page) John MacLeod of MacLeod, Chief of the Glasgow games and Chief Clan MacLeod, presented the plaque to Vice President Scott & Treena Turnbull and President James Trumble on Saturday May 30th. (A Message from Chief John MacLeod.) The weather was great and really made up for the not so great weather we had at the Kentucky Scottish Weekend two weeks prior. It was really nice to see some of our friends from Clans Elliot and Moffat, and especially Connal and Patricia Bell from California. I want to say thank you to all who stopped by our tent to learn about Clan Turnbull and to those who just stopped by to chat -- we really appreciate all of you. A special hello to Mr. Trumbo and his daughter who stopped by and spent some time with us. It was very nice to meet you and we hope to become more acquainted in the future. The next games we will attend will be the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games in North Carolina, July 11 - 13. We hope you can make it out see us. ----- Treena

| Kentucky Scottish Weekend, May 9 - 11, 2003 . . . The winds blew. The rains fell. We think we saw the wicked witch and Toto fly by. But nothing dampens the spirit of Clan Turnbull! In spite of the weather, we had a great weekend and renewed acquaintances with many friends. KSW in Carrollton, Kentucky, is held annually on Mother's Day weekend. Clan Turnbull's space was flanked on either side by our good friends from Clan Elliott and Clan MacKenzie. Check out the photos of the Bonniest Knees contest. The judges were certainly "thorough" in their charge to properly examine the knees of this year's contestants. We honored our website developer with a honorary lifetime membership to Clan Turnbull and a Clan MacKenzie plaque, hand crafted by "Pops" Trimble. Vickie, our developer, shed tears when presented with our tributes to her. Next up . . . Glasgow! ---- Treena |
| Loch Norman Highland Games, April 11-13, 2003 . . . The Loch Norman Highland Games took place in Huntersville, North Carolina (near Charlotte) the weekend of April 12th and 13th. The games began on Friday April 11th with the Calling of the Clans Torch Light Ceremony in which Clan Turnbull was represented by Scott Turnbull.. The weather for the torch light ceremony was a bit on the cold side but ,fortunately, the weather cooperated for the rest of the weekend -- mid 70’s was perfect for Clan Turnbull’s first games of the season. It was a great start. (Check out our photos!) We had several Turnbulls present for this event and it was really great to see all again. We also had a very close friend of ours who was able to attend the games with us, Vickie McKenzie-Anderson of Clan MacKenzie. It was her first time to attend LNHG and she states that it was one of the best games she has ever attended. The people who put on the LNHG really know what they are doing. It is one of our personal favorites. So thank you to all the Turnbulls who attended and we will see you all again soon ---- Treena |
